Large Dog VR Studio's Baseball Game

Baseball Game is a realistic baseball game for the HTC Vive. It has six different batting modes, two different pitching modes, and two different catching modes.

This game is great for everyone regardless of your baseball skills, because you can customize how difficult you want your baseball experience to be.

For the baseball players out their, you can make it play at a little league, high school, college, professional level. I mainly create this game for you guys, because I wanted to create a game that baseball players could actually use in their home to train with. Because of this, the game offers a super realistic baseball experience that you can train with when you cant get to the field.

For the baseball fans out their, heres your chance to experience how hard it is to play professional baseball. You think you could hit the ball better than the professionals can, well here's your shot.

With a realistic batting system (choose right or left handed pitcher, speed and type of pitch, random or specific pitch type, spin factor etc.) and a realistic pitching mode that tracks the way you throw the ball and determines what pitch you meant to throw, this game has tons of features.

The baseball game also comes with three different levels that are playable in sunny, cloudy, evening, darker evening, and night weather settings. Here the crowd cheer for you in the home stadium. Have the crowd cheer against you in the away stadium. experience a small crowd atmosphere in the park.

For each game mode, and each difficulty their is a top ten internet scores list as well as the ability to save your best score locally as well. You will always have a reason to improve your baseball game, and have your username on the top ten baseball game internet scores list.

Click on the game details tab to learn more about the game play modes, or view the images and videos. You can also watch or download the tutorials, which will show you narrative game play through each of the ten different modes.

Make sure you watch the "Game Play - Tutorial" videos. These are in 2160p - 4k - 60fps and you can also donwload them and watch them in 4k - 30fps in 360. These videos are provided to see the game play, and provide a detailed tutorial of each game mode. I have provided them in 360 as well, so one can experience the game play and tutorials inside of their VR headset.

Baseball Game has 10 different modes

Batting Practice Mode

This is the main game mode and probably the one you will spend the most time playing. This game mode is basically for training and has no rules in it. You get to pick if you want a baseball pitcher to throw the ball, or a pitching machine. Next you pick what ball you want to hit. You can pick baseball, reduced impact baseball or softball for training and a realistic experience, or you can pick a cricket ball, field hockey ball, golf ball, lacrosse ball, racquet ball, rubber bouncy ball, squash ball or tennis ball for fun. You can also pick standard or high visibility ball colors (which splits the ball into two different colors), so you can more easily see the spin of the ball, and practice your skills of reading the spin of the ball.

Now you can pick the pitch speed. The options for this are from 15 MPH to 110 MPH, so this will suite the beginner and the professional. We can even adjust the spin factor of the pitch. If we have a pitcher who throws a great 12-6 curveball at 50 MPH, we can set the baseball pitcher inside of the game to throw all 12-6 curveballs at 50 MPH with a spin factor of 3 to simulate this type of training.

Next you select what type of pitch you want to hit (curve ball, curve ball 12-6, cutter, forkball, four seam fastball, knuckleball, knuckle curveball, screw ball, sinker, slider, slurve ball, splitter, two seam fastball). You can also have the game pitch randomly to you for a realistic effect. You can even change the probability of each individual pitch, so you can build an accurate profile of any real pitcher.

For example, let's say you have trouble against this pitcher you face in your little league division. He is right handed and throws mostly curve balls and four seam fastballs, with the occasional slider. You estimate that his four seam fastball pitch speed is 70 MPH. To build this profile in our video game, we will choose right handed pitcher, and put 70 MPH for the four seam fastball speed. This will then calculate what his curve ball and slider speeds will be. We then set the probability of the curveball to around 50%, the four seam fastball to around 60%, the slider to around 10% and all of the other pitches to false. We are now able to practice against this type of pitcher in the video game.

Next we can set the mode to automatic or manual. Manual is great when you want to practice a technique and then evaluate how you did. Automatic is great for continuous play. You can even set the time between pitches to random, so it will simulate a real baseball pitcher.

Finally your going to need a bat to hit the ball with, you can choose from wood or metal. you can select the bat length, bat drop, wood type (ash, birch, maple) and even the color.

As a bonus I have added batting targets you can put on the field. You can pick a default layout, or create and save your own layout. You can choose between construction barrels and cones, and their is no limit to how many you can place on the field.

As you can see this mode is perfect for training or just having fun.

Batting Game Mode

This game mode lets you play baseball in a real game scenario.

You pick between baseball or softball and easy, medium or hard mode. You have three strike outs and the score is the amount of runs you have batted at the end. every time you make a hit, the game will determine if that hit was a single, double , triple or home run. I created the easy mode for beginners to little league, the medium mode for high school to college, and the hard mode for the professional level.

Batting Home Run Mode

This game mode allows you to try and hit the most home runs possible.

Since each baseball park is larger than 300ft, and the game is realistic, it is very hard to hit a home run if your not a baseball player. Because of this the home run mode has a weighted bat, that will make hitting home runs a lot easier.

You pick baseball or softball and 25,50,100 pitches. The goal is to hit as many home runs as possible, and the total home runs hit is the end score.

Batting Target Mode

This game mode allows you to practice your hitting placement.

You pick baseball or softball, easy, medium or hard game mode, and 25,50,100 pitches. The difference between the game mode difficulties is how many construction cones and barrels are in the field to hit. The goal is to hit as many targets as possible and get the highest score. Cones are worth 400 points, while barrels are worth 100 points.

Batting Greatest Distance Mode

This game mode allows you to try and hit your maximum distance.

You pick baseball or softball and 25,50,100 pitches. The goal is to hit the ball as far as possible, and your farthest hit is the end score.

Batting Total Distance Mode

This game mode allows you to try and hit your total maximum distance.

You pick baseball or softball and 25,50,100 pitches. The goal is to hit the ball as far as possible, and the sum of all of your hits is the end score.

Pitching Practice Mode

This game mode allows you to practice your pitching.

I noticed right away when I started building this game mode that for people who do not play baseball competitively, it is hard to throw a baseball 60 ft and 6 inches. Because of this you can pick half or full distance, and it will move you to 30 ft 3 inches or 60 ft 6 inches.

Then you choose baseball or softball. Next you choose the pitch type you want to throw. Their are two systems for this, a menu based system and a controller based system. In the menu based system, you just select the pitch type, and when you throw the ball it will allow you to throw the pitch type you have selected.

The controller based system was added to enhance the realism of the game. With this mode selected it will read the buttons held down on the controller and the rotation of your wrist, to determine what pitch you wanted to throw. This adds the realism of actually changing your throw depending on the type of pitch you want to throw.

Next we select the speed and spin factors. You can leave these at 1 for a realistic experience, or you can adjust them to give you more speed and or spin on your pitches. You can also set the strike zone to on or off, to have a visible strike zone appear in front of the batter.

We are ready to finally play the pitching game mode. Pitch the ball and see if you can strike the batter out, or will he hit a home run on you. The ball and strike count as well as strike outs are counted, so you will know what type of pitch you should throw at the right time.

Pitching Game Mode

This game mode allows you to pitch in a baseball game.

This game mode is about the same as the pitching practice mode just without the pitch speed and spin factors, and the added ability to keep score.

You can pick baseball or softball and easy, medium, hard or excellent game mode. The game modes determine how good of a batter the baseball player is (easy game mode means he will swing at a lot of balls as well as strikes, and miss them easily, while excellent is more of a professional level, where he will rarely swing at a ball, and he will hit strikes far.) The lowest number of home runs batted against you is the end score.

Catching Practice Mode

This game mode allows you to practice your catching and throwing the ball to home plate skills.

You can pick if your left or right handed, and your glove will change hands. Then you pick baseball or softball and a game mode. The only difference between the game modes (easy, medium, hard and excellent) is how fast the batter runs. Easy is very easy to strikeout and hard is faster than your average professional. You can also set the game to play on manual or automatic.

The pitcher will then pitch the ball and the batter will hit the ball to the outfield. You will be standing in the outfield, and will need to run to the ball and try to catch the ball. If you catch the ball the batter is out. If you do not catch the ball you need to pickup the ball and throw the ball to the home plate. The batter will be trying to run around all of the bases to get to the home plate. If you can throw the ball to the home plate before the batter gets to the home plate, you get the strikeout, otherwise the batter gets the home run.

Catching Game Mode

The catching game mode is identical to the catching practice mode, with the added ability to save your best local score, and save your score to the top ten list, if you make it on the top ten list.
